SAUHMA Conference 2005
Dear SAUHMA Members,
Thank you to all of you for ensuring the success of our 6th biennial
SAUHMA Conference at St George’s Hotel, Pretoria. As mentioned at the meeting,
your attendance makes you eligible for a refresher certificate in underwater
medicine – recognized by the Department of Labour – by completing an on-line
multiple choice exam through the University of Stellenbosch. There will not be
an additional cost to delegates who attended and paid the SAUHMA Conference in
full. Details on how to take the exam are available in the section below.

We look forward to an exciting and productive time over the next
two years which should witness the development of the BScMedScHons
Hyperbaric Medicine to follow its parallel in Diving and Undersea Medicine
at the University of Stellenbosch;also the 2nd Bennett & Elliott Course in
Durban between August and November 2006. In addition we are pleased to announce
that SAUHMA has won the bid for the International Congress of Hyperbaric
Medicine Meeting in Cape Town 2011. Many things to look forward to. If you are
not yet a member of SAUHMA, please join by completing our on-line registration
and be part of the future of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine in Southern
Africa.

For the refresher course:
The test will ONLY BE
AVAILABLE UNTIL 15 December. After that you will have to pay the full
price!!!
Entry Requirements :
- MBChB or equivalent degree
- Current registration with the HPCSA
- Designated Medical Practitioner in terms of the Diving Regulations,
2001.
- Full attendance and full payment of the SAUHMA 2005
conference.
To register for the examination, you will need to forward proof of current
registration with the HPCSA as a medical practitioner AND provide your
Department of Labour registration number.
You will need a password to login to the section for the refresher
course. You must contact Jack Meintjes via e-mail (wajm@sun.ac.za) with the subject : “Refresher
Exam”. He will then give you a username and password it will take 24 – 48
hours.
You then go to : http://www.learn.sun.ac.za
Choose the “Tygerberg 2005” option
Then you will need the username & password.
